Darcy Llewellyn is a bad witch. Bad as in the fact that she can't spell cast, at all. A failure in her prestigious family's eyes, disgraced and scorned, Darcy became a runaway witch. She snuck away in the middle of the night, traveled across the country, and enrolled in a mundane college. Now as a senior in music marketing she has landed her dream internship with a local record label and has been handed an up and coming 'baby' band to manage. Phoenixcry is made up of 5 hot, talented guys. Guys w Darcy Llewellyn is a bad witch. Bad as in the fact that she can't spell cast, at all. Phoenixcry is made up of 5 hot, talented guys. Guys who happen to be werewolves. Witches and werewolves do not mix. However, Darcy finds herself staying with the band and even hitting the road with them on tour as an opening act. And in some ways it couldn't be better; the band is a hit, their social media is on fire, and their merchandise is selling out. Darcy loves being with the guys; it feels like family. She's falling for them. But it's complicated. The guys are being hunted and there's a risk Darcy's family will find her. There's also a risk to her heart if the guys are only using her in hopes of her power. Life on tour isn't what she expected.

One witch, five hot werewolves, the music industry. Seems like the perfect setup for an RH! I did enjoy it but I also have some complaints. Darcy can't decide who she wants to be. She wants to be successful, strong, competent. And at times she is. Then the next moment she's angst-filled, immature, unprofessional. Too much quitting, too much running away. She needs to decide who she is, what she wants, and own her life. Phoenixcry: Finn Gunner, Elias Gunner, Charlie Gage, Wesley “Ace” Rivers, and Cash Legend. There's nothing not to love about caring Finn and adorable Ace. Eli is hot/cold, Charlies seems removed most of the time, and Cash starts off great and then changes into a thoughtless, selfish man. I would have liked to have seen much more of a connection between Darcy and the guys. I only really believed her and Finn. Ace seemed to crush on her but the others didn't seem invested beyond their need for her. They could have benefited from some more talks. They started out talking, then it became more about scents and needs. My main request in an RH is for the guys to treasure the girl. I didn't see it in this book. Maybe in the next one.

The premise of the book worked really well for me. I love books set in the rock world and I love tours. Gets crowded, so much time spent together, tempers flare, passions flare. Makes for an entertaining read. The side story of Darcies's roomie Max was odd. It distracted from the story so I hope there is a purpose for it in the future. The ending was unexpected and irritating, to be honest. Knowing what we do, the decision was poorly made and can only lead to disaster. If it endangers the band, it will be inexcusable. The basis for a good series is here if a few tweaks are made. I am looking forward to book 2. ...more

I really loved this book. A magically suppressed witch takes internship as and assistant to a band of werewolves that can't shift. I really like how this story started, it pulled me right in and kept my interest. Now I can't wait for Phoenix Fall. ...more
