I really liked how this took a slightly different spin to all the vampire books I have read recently. It was also good to see a slightly different genre from Ripley after reading some of her other books. I read this in one sitting and was instantly drawn in to the story and the characters. I like how Briar hasn't been portrayed as either superficially amazing at everything or alternatively a total damsel in distress- she has her weaknesses but is super smart! Yes!!

Ripley did it again! She always has a way of adding depth to her characters that a lot of other authors struggle with and this book was no different. I never struggle with separating her characters because they are all so distinct. I’m looking forward to the next book for this one. Is it too soon to beg?

I haven't found a book by Ripley Proserpina that I didn't love and Briar is definitely not an exception. The book comes alive and you can almost feel the emotions of each character. This book is definitely part of my top 10 reads of the year. ...more

I love ripley's searcher series so I wanted to read this one too and now I'm not sure which one I like more. Briar has had a hard life because she is allergic to the sun but she doesn't let it bring her down. She is a great mc. I will definitely continue to read this series. ...more
