It was ok. Scary that it could happen, and scariER that she did so little to try to get back home. I understand that there are some survival/psychological issues that come into play (like Patty Hurst Syndrome), but it is unnerving to think that I could be doing everyting possible to get my (miraculously) still-alive kidnapped child back, and she could be living so complacently among terrible people...

This was a horrendous story to read and I did it one evening, It got so awful that I almost put it down. I read through it and its Jaycee's story and I have no idea how she gets through the day at times because she will be a prisoner for the rest of her life.
She has to protect her children from the media frenzy and therefore can not be seen in public with them. After reading this I felt dirty and lonely. Kudos to Jaycee for being able to write this memoir and make sense of it all cause I sure ...more

This is a gut-wrenching, tear-jerking and an amazing story from a truly wonderful soul. After everything that was done to her, through it all, Jaycee has come through it all unscathed and tender-hearted. She does not have any hatred in her heart for the people that stole her life - she only has love for her family.

Intensely hard for me to follow due to the writer's style of narrative. It is more like listening to someone tell you a story with many tangents and pauses rather than reading a book.
