This is one of the better true-crime books I've read (and I've read a lot of them, since it's one of my favorite genres.) Catherine Crier doesn't dig into the hearts, minds and souls of people in the way Ann Rule does, but that's probably to be expected since she's a lawyer and, I would assume, naturally more focused on details and analysis. Still, there is no way to read this book without realizing that Scott Peterson is a classic sociopath; she definitely gives us enough to figure that out.

I remember, vaguely, watching the news about Scott Peterson and following the trial/case with my mom. Although I remember hearing about Scott and understanding that he did something horrrible, I never realized how sadistic this man is until I read this book. I really enjoyed reading this because it didn't just give me more information regarding the Scott Peterson case/trial, it gave me a psychological view of this man's personality - he's a complete sociopath and you can see it in his eyes.
