Thank to Goodreads Choice Awards I noticed this book and glad I did because I enjoyed reading the stories of the people that were affected by the Tann woman and her cohorts.
What I liked were the stories of adoptees and birth parents but also from everyone that were affected by this so also the children of the adoptees and in some cases even grandchildren.
Some stories made me so terribly sad. That woman played with so many lives.

I loved Lisa Wingate's BEFORE WE WERE YOURS, and this is the perfect companion book. Rarely does a novel inspire so many people to come forward with their stories. Judy Christie did a great job chronicling the stories of the survivors and exploring how Wingate's book brought recognition to the aging orphans, giving them a way to bond and gain comfort from one another. Highly recommended.

If you have read the fictional Before We Were Yours by Lisa Wingate, this is the non-fiction story of the actual children who came from the Tennessee Home for Children in Memphis. Most of them over 70, looking for information on parents or siblings.
