This was only the second book I've ever blurbed. I was very impressed. My review:
This was such a rewarding book. I've always been fascinated by that very basic question: when someone is disturbed and irrational enough to actually pick up a gun and take hostages, how on earth do you talk him down?
What was most startling to me was that until very recently in human history--a few decades ago--we didn't know.

I used to have a dream of being in law enforcement. So much so that my educational background is in criminal justice administration. I would have loved to have had the opportunity to be in the FBI, especially in the line of work Mr. Noesner was in. This was a fascinating and interesting read which reminded me of the reasons I had that dream so long ago. I found his honesty refreshing and his experiences told in such a way that kept you interested and vested in the outcomes. His candor in sharing

Not the biggest page-turner I've ever read, but worthwhile for providing a pretty unique view to the true crime field.
I particularly appreciated the chapter on Waco. Very good analysis of all the bureaucratic in-fighting that led to an unnecessary tragedy. I wanted to tear my hair out while reading it; and i was reading it 15 years and far removed from the fact. I can only imagine how frustrating and devastating it was for Noesner. ...more

The beginning and segments on Waco were the most riveting and in depth. I really want corroboration about some of the claims he made regarding the final day of the seige and the conflagration.
