Trying to understand the unthinkable...
If you're looking for answers as to why the author's younger son became one of the Columbine gunmen, they are hard to find. It seems as though Dylan suffered from serious depression, though that doesn't excuse his behavior.

I started this book when it came out in February. I've been working on it on and off since then and have read many books in between. I'm not going to rate it. This is not because I did not get anything out of it or think it was well written. It's just that I feel uncomfortable with rating it. This is definitely a worthwhile read. I don't think that I could have experienced something like Sue Klebold did and not only survived but written about it. I think I she's very brave to do so.

This book breaks my heart. Sue Klebold expresses herself in a way that touched me far more than anything I have read. The pain of losing a child is one of the worst things a parent can experience. When you add the fact that your child was responsible for so much tragedy in so many lives, it has to be unendurable, and yet, somehow she has not only survived but given all of us a window into a grief that goes beyond what most of us can not fathom.
