Clockwork Prince (The Infernal Devices, #2) in Q&A with Cassandra Clare

I adored it, from the second half onward.
Much of this book was a 4 star, until I started to get one shock after another, and when it hit the system, it upped the stakes and the star rating.
Although, instead of gushing over it like I usually do, and will do if anyone asks me after this review, one the story has settled in my mind,
I'm going to list my complaints.

I'm sorry.

I love the Shadowhunter World. I love Cassandra Clare. I love everything about TMI and ID.

But I don't - can't - love this book.

Not just because I'm a die-hard Will fan. But because this book was lacking in so many aspects. To be honest, I'm rather disappointed about this book.

I really really didn't like Tessa. I can understand how she doesn't understand which boy she loves, but I wish she didn't have to be so dispassionate about it. She would go all out with Jem and then less than tw I'm sorry.

Not just because I'm a die-hard Will fan. But because this book was lacking in so many aspects. To be honest, I'm rather disappointed about this book.

I really really didn't like Tessa. I can understand how she doesn't understand which boy she loves, but I wish she didn't have to be so dispassionate about it. She would go all out with Jem and then less than twenty four hours later she goes at it with Will. And then blames it on some warlock powder when it's obviously not the case. And then she switches back to Jem and then Will again. And between each time, when she's with each boy, she never even thinks about the other and how she's pretty much betraying their trust, playing with their feelings, and breaking their heart if they ever found out. She's just so blatantly ignorant of how her actions could affect Will and Jem. She always "loses herself in the moment". And it isn't until the last twenty pages after the climatic point is reached (no spoilers) that she understands what she could be doing to their friendship.

And there wasn't much plot going on in this book. Not much mystery, just a little bit investigation, no surprise, no curveball. Mortmain didn't even make an appearance. What I always loved best about Cassandra Clare was that she didn't write predictable YA novels. But this book, I predicted it right from the beginning till the end. Exactly as it played out.

But character development with Will was amazing which was this book's saving grace. His nobility and his flushed out personality has made me love him even more, and I didn't think that was possible. The last scene with Jem brought tears to my eyes and their friendship, the bond they have together, is entirely moving but it makes me grieve for Will even more and feel unjustified towards his losses. I just hope the last book will be better and restore my faith.

But it has to be evident -even to Jem fans- that Will is the main male protagonist of this novel. Jem never get's any POV's and the book opens up and closes with Will and his importance is weighted upon heavily so I have faith that Will just might make a comeback and we haven't heard the last of Will and Tessa.....

Cassandra Clare really does know how to shock you, rip your heart out and then leave you dangling all within the space of just under five hundred pages.

As a dedicated member of Team Will, I loved Clockwork Prince. We saw him break down, open up and we learned the secrets of why he is how he is. And oh my goodness. This book was amazing words can't describe it but i will try :P I can't believe i didn't start this series sooner. A lot happened in this book a lot of things that surprised me.
I never liked Jessemine and now i know why.. i can't believe she did what she did! But i do see where she was coming from she was in love and people can do crazy things for love.
And we finally found out more about will. I never liked him in Clockwork Angel but that changed while reading Clockwork Price.
