As opposed to the TMI books which make me both happy and a little disappointed, the ID books charm me and make me smile and giggle a little and swoon over Will and Jem BOTH in one way or another. Needless to say that I started this book Monday night and finished it Wednesday (darn having to go to work and actually have a life). I'm pretty surprised by how much I enjoyed this book--especially since I really did not like Clockwork Angel. It was funny, because I ordered this book, really just because I was interested enough in what was happening that I wanted to read on, but I was not excited to get this in the mail. Even when I first started reading, it was easy for me to put down. When I love a book, I cannot put it down.

But as I continued to read, I grew more and more attached to the characters. I l 4.5 stars, actually.

I'm pretty surprised by how much I enjoyed this book--especially since I really did not like Clockwork Angel. It was funny, because I ordered this book, really just because I was interested enough in what was happening that I wanted to read on, but I was not excited to get this in the mail. Even when I first started reading, it was easy for me to put down. When I love a book, I cannot put it down.

But as I continued to read, I grew more and more attached to the characters. I love the complexity that is Will Herondale. There is just something about a broken boy that makes a girl want to fix him, to want to see him smile or love or laugh. Anything. And that is how I feel about Will. But then there's Jem. A boy so sweet, so loving, so forgiving, and so dying, that you just can't help but fall for him too. To want to fix what's wrong. To keep him safe. It is easy to fall for both of these boys, and that I did. I am on no team. I have no favorite. My heart hurts and yearns for both. This is good characterization. Cassie Clare is excellent at writing complex characters you can't help but love.

I also really enjoyed all the supporting characters: Sophie, Cyril, Henry, Charlotte, Gideon, etc. They are all different and all unique.

Tessa is the one character I'm not sure how to feel about. I don't hate her, but I don't know if I like her. I kind of nothing her. Her character doesn't stand out to me like the others, but, to be honest, Cassandra Clare's other heroine, Clary, was exactly the same for me. Tessa doesn't drive me insane with her immaturity like Clary, but she is often times a bit dull. That doesn't mean I think she's a bad character, I like her well enough.

There is one thing I noticed with Clockwork Prince, for a Shadowhunter book, there is very little action. This installment is highly romantic and highly character-centric. I actually enjoy these things, so it wasn't a problem for me. But for those who look forward to action, you really won't find it here.

All in all though, I very much enjoyed this read and recommend it to anyone who enjoys Ms. Clare's work. ...more

My best friend bought this book for me and i am now in debt to her cuz this book was plain brilliant! I mean no it wasn't even 'plain' brilliant. It was BRILLIANT brilliant!
