Katniss suddenly wasn't the same as she was before, along with Finnick. It sort of bugged me how throughout the novel, Katniss was on drugs, concussed, or on drugs again. Suddenly she was emotional compared to the other two books and more easy to tip off the edge. I just missed an explanation, or a longer, more thorough one. I do like how the author shows how much media has an affect on the population, how it was a tool for the rebellion. It wasn't at all surprising that District 13 was alive and running, which was a little disappointing and reminded me of the Uglies series.

The plot was okay, though it got boring when all the time was spent on describing Katniss hiding in closets and other strange corners (I mean, what was with that? It was just the most weirdest thing and totally at odds with Katniss' personality). When the action really occurs, which for me, is finally when she does more that mope around and begins to avoid Peeta by training as a soldier. Getting into action there was when the book picked up the pace. I honestly don't get that I was past halfway when that happened and it makes me wonder what the other half was wasted on.

Oh, and two things I really disliked was, again, Peeta is the punching bag. It was as if Katniss was the punching bag until he returned and he was back to having sucky things happen to him. I just saw it as unfair and I never liked how short it seemed for him to recover. The other thing I didn't like was when all the action occurred, things moved too fast. Katniss finally gets closer to President Snow, she goes to the Capitol, and a giant mess happens where everyone dies from explosions or being ripped to shreds. Yippee... *sarcastic stare, if you couldn't tell from my comment* I mean that was just ridiculous! Everyone dies, practically. Anyone worthwhile or having some interest to them. The violence was teetering towards rated R for me and I really hate how the author decided to just kill people as if she didn't know what else to do with them.

Four deaths in particular bugged me. One was Finnick's. Why couldn't she let him live at least to see Snow get killed? If for tragedy purposes or any other reason, I still didn't like it. She tossed him aside to die with mutants as if all the time to spend describing him was just a fancy of hers. The second death was Alma Whatever-her-name was, the District 13 president. I understand why Katniss would want to kill her, but there was no train of thought or reasoning to why she reached that conclusion. Why did she kill her really is a mystery if you want to look for depth other than revenge. The third death was President Snow's. LAME. What the heck was the point of anything, of rebellion if the guy dies from laughter? Literally, it seems like he died from laughter. The whole thing of how the Capitol and District 13 interact was really confusing and unexplained for me. And the last death, was Prim's. Why did the author see a need to kill off the one thing that really made Katniss seem human? It only lead to Katniss being drugged up on morphine and moping around again! What was the point? For drama? I really saw no reason except to make people depressed, though I never felt emotionally invested enough to cry along with Katniss.

Last thing, and I'm sorry about the long review, but the whole point of this series ended in a flunk. Katniss was the head of a rebellion when she was really not at all rebellious in nature. She did whatever she could to survive and the ending was just silly, and weird with Peeta and her grown up with a family. I felt like after all the deaths, Collins wanted to point out that, "Hey, things turned out all right" when Katniss returned to hunting and Peeta baking when really, it just seemed otherworldly. I was very disappointed in this ending and wished that the author did more to develop the plot and characters. ...more

I thought it was an OK book. But not nearly as good as its predcessors. I mean, it had some good aspects of it, such as the character development and emotions. I didn't really feel the emotions though. It was just a bunch of babble, non sense that made the character of Katniss annoying. And the love triangle between Katniss, Peeta and Gale. That was just pointless to have in there. There are some unjustifiable deaths that happen in this book, but those I will not give away because I do not spoil ...more

Okay. Word to Suzanne Collins, YOU KILLED TOO MANY PEOPLES! I mean give Katniss a break! Do you HAVE to kill pretty much all of her loved ones? Ugh. Sorry but that was the one thing that really ticked me off.
