Thirteen Reasons Why in Penguin's Point of View Books

Not gonna lie. I did not like this book that much. When I first saw this book at the store I was really exited to get it because it looked so good and it got so much praise. And I thought it was really great that a book that shows the effects of suicide is getting popular.

So my problem with the book? The characters. I didn't feel anything for them and I think that's what ruined this for me. Mostly Hannah. I felt very little sympathy for her. I didn't find this book very emotional or deep or a ...more

Many of the reasons for my disliking this book were perfectly stated by Nina {http://www.goodreads.com/review/show/...} so I will not repeat those here.

As a person who has personally felt the impact of suicide, this book was very triggering for me. So my feelings and beliefs toward suicide are from a place of personal experience. That being said, my biggest problem with this book is that Hannah Baker became no different than the people she blamed for pushing her to kill herself.

This is my new favorite book. I totally relate to this book and agree on so many of the things that Jay was saying. I will continue to read this book throughout my life just to remind me how compassion needs to be brought back into this world.
