Ok yeah it was short, but you know what? I really like Stephenie Meyer's writing and so I bought the novella (can't really call it a book) and am glad I did. It was kind of like she published one of her writing exercises, but I still enjoyed it. Anyway, this new perspective was nice, but so different. We're hearing what it's like to be a vampire by a girl who hadn't gotten as prepared as Bella had for the transformation, and the thirst was so much worse. It was what I had imagined it would be, s Ok yeah it was short, but you know what? I really like Stephenie Meyer's writing and so I bought the novella (can't really call it a book) and am glad I did. It was kind of like she published one of her writing exercises, but I still enjoyed it. Anyway, this new perspective was nice, but so different. It was what I had imagined it would be, since the thirst was often explained to Bella. But even though she did have a short second life, she grew up a lot in that second life.

**SOME SPOILERS**
I was actually surprised that there was a little romance in this (nothing to do with Bella and Edward, sorry!), but surpised in a good way. Bree and Diego were cute, and although there obviously wasn't as much time spent building their relationship as their was with Bella and Edward, I felt like it was needed, especially at the end to make everything happen and to explain emotions and actions. The scene where Bree and Diego were outside the house where Riley and Vistoria were, well, having sex, was, for lack of a better word, disgusting. Just thinking about those two doing that made me want to skip completely over that part, even though I knew it was important.

The final scene helped me a lot to understand what was going on in Bree's head when I was reading it in Eclipse. You would have never in a million years guessed what was going on in there reading it just from Bella's perspective. It was also an interesting twist to learn that the Volturi sort of picked Victoria's side, which was weird because you would think that they would know Victoria was going to lose. Anyways, interesting development, and I'm glad she basically told Edward in her thoughts everything she knew. Although I did think it was weird that she called him a red-head, because I have never EVER thought of him that way. I thought of his hair has always golden brown.

If I thought Riley couldn't have pissed me off more, I was wrong. At first you feel bad that Victoria used him for her own ends and got him and 20 other vampires killed, but that feeling goes away quickly when you realize how many lies he told his newborn army and that they really had no idea it was a suicide mission, even as they breathed their last breath. Obviously they couldn't know or else they would never do it, but just the fact that he lied about EVERYTHING really pissed me off.

I have to say my favorite character was Fred and I was glad he was smart enough to leave before the fight and therefore was the only one out of the coven (if you could even call it that) to still exist (not live). And I'm honestly sad that Bree was killed, especially since she should have realized that Riley had killed Diego the first time he didn't walk through the door after him. Another reason to hate Riley. I knew Bree wouldn't live, having read eclipse already, but I wanted that to change somehow. I would definitely recommend this to fans of Twilight and Stephenie Meyer. ...more

It was different to what I expected. Though Meyers' writing style seemed a little different, you could still see definite characteristics of her style underneath.

The most surprising thing about this book had to be the likeability of the characters. Bree wasn't a one dimensional shallow bimbo like Bella. It actually shocked me just a little. I loved Fred. And Diego (while ultimetly short lived) was still a good character.

i thought this book was good we got to see to story behind the newborn attack. It is a shame that bree's story couldn't be unravelled into a new series book like bree's life it was snort lived, o loved the book and look forward to reading more ...more

I liked this book. Kind of a sad ending, I wish Bree, Diego and Fred could have lived happily. I hope Edward did something about Fred too, for Bree.

brill i really enjoyed seeing the cullens through somebody other than bella and jacobs eyes , also very tragic aswell its always nice to have a happy ending!!!!!poor bree but in some ways it was a perfect conclusion!!!
