I enjoyed this fictional account of the London Blitz and a small Cape Cod town just prior to the involvement of the United States in World War II. I was especially drawn to the character of Frankie Bard, a female radio reporter working with Edward R. Murrow, who reported on the bombings in London and on the Jewish refugees traveling by train across Europe.

I was going to throw out two stars to this major snooze-a-thon, until the author's note mentioned made up historical facts that were incredibly integral to the plot. I don't agree with stretching history this way, sorry to be a stickler Ms. Blake!

This book could have been so good. It had moments of greatness. The premise was good, and the characters, had they been properly developed, would have been memorable (what she did and did not do with the character of Frances Bard was unbelievable). To me, it appeared that the author started out telling this story with great enthusiasm and just lost interest in the characters and the story. The last 100 pages or so were a chore to read.
