I have attempted to read this book several times before and never made it through, despite the fact that I very rarely don't finish a book. Well, I made it through this time, and I have to admit, I get it. I get why this is a classic, why people (especially women) love it so much, and why it's considered a must-read. It's funny, it's nuanced, it's shocking (in its time), and its characters are well-crafted.

Used to be my favourite. Still the jolliest. But now I'm older, plot makes no sense - they barely know each other and lack depth.

It was difficult to get through the language but once i got used to that the story was okay. I didn't find it as great as it was supposed to be and I felt the relationship between Mr Darcy and Elizabeth was brought on too quickly. She suddenly decided that she loved him after despising him for so long and I felt the marriage was rushed. I felt all the marriages were rushed. I liked Mrs. Bennett least of all because I felt she was pressuring her daughters to marry and more or less taking whatever
