Holy crap this book is SO SO good! It has been a very long time since a book has been able to genuinely surprise me. Usually within the first few chapters you can figure out where the author is headed with a character, and go along for the ride. With Verity, the author gives these great slights of hand that leave a doubly powerful emotional punch. It took a long time, but I finally finished this one. It is quite good, but it just took me awhile to get into it.I'm not sure how many of my students would like this historical fiction tale, but I hope some will read it.
