A real page turner. I can't say why it lacks 5 stars because it does contain some decent characterization as well as a riveting plot. Perhaps I want a bit more from the prose itself, which lacks richness.
But make no mistake, this is a thoroughly enjoyable and fun read. It is a mystery, as well as a horror story and a love story. The classic tale of the opera ghost who becomes obsessed with a singer. I found parts of the story to be slow and it never really scared me. I did feel sorry for the opera ghost by the end of the book.
very witty,very absorbing
This book was okay. The musical is a lot better though, it is definitely a lot better with songs.
The book, the movie, and the musical are all great.
