This is Sherman Alexie's newest collection of short stories. It includes some previously published stories as well as new ones. His short stories include Native American characters and often include occasions that are unique to current-day Native Americans. Most of his stories are set in the Northwest. But his real talent is, through these characters and their experiences, to bring focus to common human emotions. For me Alexie writes with just right balance of humor and pathos. I didn't finish this because I found the stories very samey, and it was a library book and it had to go back. If I'd owned it and could have read one story a week, I'd have finished it and probably enjoyed it, but trying to read it fast I felt like I was reading about the same character again and again and I had other, more engaging things to read. I did enjoy the novel of his that I read. It probably would have helped if there'd been some female characters who were not just there for sex and co ...more
