Okay this got five stars from me, but I'm having a little heart burn on it. this book was amazing to read, Laura Hillenbrand can write. Man, she could take any story and make it as interesting as dinner with Jesus and Santa... and that's our problem. This story is compelling and outstanding. The story of Louie Zamperini, from youth to old age is a remarkable and powerful testament to not only Zamperini, but the entire World War II generation. It is a wrenching story at times with its sad portrayal of human abuse he endured at the hands of the Japanese as a POW. In the end it is a testament to the power of choosing love over hate and his choice to choose to follow God instead of his anger has to be one of the most catharic moments in recent non-fiction.
