What Members Thought
I suppose a 12 year old main character and talking bears make this seem like a children’s book, and while I’m pleased (and rather surprised honestly) that young readers seem to adore this book, it’s got some pretty complex themes, and disturbing moments. It’s refreshing that the author doesn’t alter his mature, rather classical-fantasy style. The atmosphere of the world is rich and immersive, and the stakes are high.
