With nearly 2 million GR ratings, this should be on some list called "everyone has read it but me." I bought a used copy about 10 years ago, read the first paragraph and put it back on my shelf. Not for me then and I kept skipping over it. Finally, the time was right!

Loved it, loved it, loved it! I was dragging my heels from reading this one due to all the hype about it and I finally picked it up for a challenge and I regretted that it's taken me so long to actually read it.

Memoirs of a Geisha is a book not soon forgotten. It is the life story of a Geisha and the honor her family took in the fact of her role. The book was very emotional, the movie, however, was very sexual. I don't know why Hollywood can't tell a story as it is written. Exspecially one as beautiful as Memoirs of a Geisha.

While I did enjoy reading this book, it didnt quite meet my expectations. I liked getting insights to the culture and the history but the characters and the story line didn't really do much for me.
