Wow -- I just finished this book, and I'm a bit gutted. I may revise my review rating up to 5 stars after I've had some time to reflect. What an intelligent book told from the first person perspective of a very attentive and philosophical dog, Enzo.

Okay, I'm a sucker for books told in first person by dogs (starting with that oldie Beautiful Joe). But this one is really special.
I loved this dog, with his active mind, his wit, and his passionate regard for justice. And his deep conviction that when he dies he will come back as a man.
I'm glad I read this book. Take it home and read it aloud to your dog.

An Awesome book!!!
This book is wonderful! I really liked the POV of the dog. It is really well written and the characters are very real. It is interesting to see the world from the perspective of a dog, makes you think how much the animals really understand!
This story is cleverly told from the point of view of a dog. But it makes me think of a country-western song--sweet and sad (or saccharine and maudlin)with a chorus of wisdom (or platitudes) set around hot cars and with a happy ending.
Way more enjoyable than I thought a book narrated by a dog could be.
