A lightning fast, highly entertaining read, Cline's homage to 80s culture jerks you this way and that through a disturbing dystopia. The world is engrossing and the fast-paced plot leaves little time to breathe. Shelves: adventure

Love this book! Boy does author, Ernest Cline know his 80's subculture and video games...awesome and I don't even play video games...but I was totally immersed in the story! I learned so much about, well, everything 80's!
It a great adventure and the characters are wonderful.. I'm looking forward to the movie! ...more

Shelves: read-in-2013

I've never been much into video games, but I do like variety in my reading. A lot of readers really liked this book, so I decided to give it a shot. The beginning seemed rather slow, but once the stage was set and the action began (I think about Chapter 7), it was actually quite a fun read.

I'll confess that I was around when video games first came out. Does anyone remember Pong? My daughters and my husband can probably relate more to the book, since they did play many of the games referenced her ...more
