I enjoyed this book. I am a child of the 80's so I loved all the 80's references. I played some of those games like Dungeons and Dragons and MUDS. My first computer was a Comodore 64. I really got into the story. For as technically advanced as that world was, it was still a dystopia. The people spent more time living in the OASIS world than the real world. The OASIS world did sound cool. I tried to figure out the clues along with the the characters to find the "Easter" egg. I was surpried to fin

The decade of the 2040s are here and life on earth is even more abysmal and depressing than ever. There are a lot of wars being fought and the energy crisis is at an all-time high. I loved listening to this book. At it's heart, it's a pretty basic boy-meets-girl story, complete with the obstacle of a quest (save the world, of course) to be completed before they can be united. But it has so much fun in the telling of that story - in particular, I enjoy that the girl is his real competition for the quest - that it doesn't really matter. And I had so much fun listening that I didn't really realise it until it was over.
