I was surprised by this thoughtful, intimate look at one Indian family in America. The book cleverly uses the main character's name(s) to ruminate on identity and displacement among this family of immigrants and first generation Americans. The focus on naming also structures the story, and allows the author to skip over years without making the story feel choppy or incomplete. An absorbing read with a little something to chew on. 3.5 stars?
