What Members Thought

This is my favourite of the female comedian books thus far - which makes sense because I think I'm most familiar with Tina Fey and I've always enjoyed what she does. I thought her comments on motherhood were both funny and spot on. Plus now I want to go back and rewatch 30 Rock with the husband.

Enriching, chuckle-worthy, and at times legitimately sad too! I think it's fair to say that Tina Fey has set a standard for comedy memoirs.
She takes the self-deprecating route and targets herself as the butt of many jokes, thus pre-empting any insults that anyone else could deliver. For instance, near the book's beginning, Tina lists her physical attributes that she is proud of: "Straight Greek eyebrows. They start at the hairline at my temple and, left unchecked, will grow straight across my fa ...more

This was a very quick and easy read that had me chuckling every five or ten pages or so. It is overall very light reading. Feels honest in a self-deprecating and occasionally silly way, and provides more fun than food for thought. I did appreciate Fey's thoughts on being a working woman and mother, and was most interested in her thoughts (and mixed feelings) about playing Sarah Palin on SNL. If you need airplane reading or a book to take to the beach, or just generally want something fun that yo

I listened to the audiobook narrated by Tina Fey and she did a fantastic job as a narrator - I don't think anyone could have done it better, since she is so ever present in people's minds. Listening to the audiobook is definitely the way to go with this.
BUT I really didn't enjoy the book that much. It was just okay, and honestly, if it wasn't for the fact that I'm hard wired to finish a book I've started, I would have ditched it. I think the same thing as I did for the book by another SNL humori ...more

Amusing, and I liked how she addressed sexism in little and big ways, but there just wasn't a lot of content or meatiness to it. Plus, I get bored with self-deprecating humor pretty easily. (I preferred Mindy Kaling's book. There. I said it.)

This was fun as an audiobook and I listened to it in a day, but as funny as it was, I wish there had been more to it. I just kind of ends, and I guess it's partly my fault for waiting until the book was already six years old before reading it, since Ms. Fey has done a lot in the meantime that, of course, isn't included here. By "more to it" I don't just mean biographical content, I mean more focus and organization, and a tiny bit of resonance. (What i"m trying to say, she writes fun shows, but h

I read Bossypants four months ago. For some reason, I have been postponing my review since I first wrote it couple of months back. Not that I am unsure of it or it was controversial or I had any such juicy reactions. Bossypants simply didn't fascinate me. This is the not the first time I was listening to the book though. I had first played the audiobook in my car two years ago when I went on a short drive - I did get to the halfway point before I had to return the book. I remember enjoying the b

In the interest of full disclosure, I will admit that what I knew about Tina Fey was that she had played Sarah Palin on SNL. What I didn't know about her could fill a book - this one. I didn't expect to enjoy this book as much as I did, she is a truly funny lady and likeable person. I might even check out 30 Rock one of these days.
