I started this as an audiobook - which was beautifully narrated - but oh such a slow moving book. So for the last third of the book, I read a physical copy. I'm in the 1% who really didn't care for it. Definitely a beautifully written book, depressing and moving - really in depth character study - but I just couldn't get into it. I was bored and anxious for it to finish. But this is a really haunting story and told beautifully. I just wish there was more to it.

We still have to reckon with what we don't understand, and in Sing, Unburied, Sing, there's a lot to grapple with, a lot that comes to a head before anyone's ready for it: love, damage, death, history. Blood and skin. And stomach acid.

This is wonderfully-written and very lyrical. There are three characters whose perspectives we enter, and each voice is realistic and distinct. The balance created by having the voices of both Leonie and Jojo is the heart of the novel.
