I liked this book but at the same time there were some things about it that drove me crazy. Such as conversations that you got the point of very early but that just kept going along the same lines until I thought I would pull my hair out:-) I realize that this is just a difference in time periods...I guess today we get our information in smaller sound bites and I have gotten impatient with long winded conversation. Okay, I finally finished this book. It was tolerable. I read it with clear eyes and without Jane Austen burn out. I am still not a fan of the author. She is still long winded. I didn't like the character of Emma. She is a snobby, rich girl who has nothing better to do with her time then to match people up who she thinks should be together. Emma is a rather frivolous story - light but without missing depth. The characters act in foolish fashions, but at the same time their faults are so easy to relate to that you can't help but love them anyway. Which is the lesson here: there is always room to improve, if one wishes, and if the people nearby genuinely love you and stand by your side. Heart-warming!
