This took me forever to read. I should say: I love thick, lush prose. I love it in my gaming (hi, Jamie! =D) and in my literature (hi, Cat!) and in my advertising and everywhere. But in this, it feels like the author is far too in love with his narrative voice - as if the same story could have been told in half to two-thirds as many pages if he'd only listened to his editor and cut a few hundred words here and there.

Questo è il primo volume di una saga che attualmente conta altri 4 libri, uno più alto dell'altro. La mole è quindi paragonabile, anche se maggiore, a "Il signore degli anelli" di Tolkien, ma solo la mole. Niente Hobbit però, solo draghi, almeno in questo primo volume, un po' di magia nera, molto sesso e tanti tanti morti.
La cosa più frequente che mi sento dire da quando ho questo libro e gli altri in libreria è: non ti affezionare troppo ai personaggi....Secondo voi che vorrà dire? ...more

Shelves: own, 2013, fiction, song-of-ice-and-fire

It took me several months to get through this book, although I really did enjoy most of it. The only parts that I was not interested in reading was Catelyn Stark's chapters. My favorite to read was Tyrion's chapters; I found his character to be really likeable. Sansa's chapters also were interesting to read. The storyline between her and Joffrey is pretty entertaining (although I am up to date on the show so I know the outcome of it).
