Leftteri tells a story of a migrant domestic worker from Sri Lanka in Cyprus who disappears. Her employer, a widow with a child, tries to find Nitia. The employer runs into prejudice and misogyny from the authorities. As she talks to other maids in her neighborhood she begins to find out what their lives are like and information about the woman who has kept her household going for almost nine years.
The story is well-written and has wonderful descriptions of the natural setting on Cyprus.

Beautifully written, based on true events, this story is captivating. Not always easy, but a beautiful read.
