About the only thing that can make a 6.5+ hour drive tolerable is a good audiobook. These short stories fit the bill perfectly and kept me engaged and listening for the whole drive. All of these stories were thought-provoking and clever. Many examined the role of memory, the interaction between humans and technology, and whether knowledge is inherently good.

The first book of Ted Chiang's I've read and wow, all the stories are so thoughtful! I loved how each stories are followed by author's notes on what inspired him to write that particular story and what he wanted to achieve through his writing of that story. Beautiful and thoughtful prose; highly recommended if you're after a thought-provoking book.
