The book begins with Sam Masur and Sadie green unexpectedly reuniting in a subway station. Sam and Sadie were good friends when they met in a children's hospital but they had a falling out. Sam ends up asking Sadie to make a video game with him. Sam's room mate Marx ends up being a producer on the game, Ichigo, and the three of them form a gaming company, Unfair games. So, I'm right smack in the target audience for this book. I share a lot of history with these characters, being of similar age. I also grew up at just this moment where video games were in their infancy, computer access became a thing around the time I was in high school--so the perfect age to have a lot of free time and curiosity. I also considered a career in computer stuff, but unlike Sadie, couldn't face the sexism of the times. So, all that said, reading this felt like reading my alter-life
