The true story of Edwin Rist an American student studying in England who as a teenager became obsessed with the art of tying Victorian fishing flies, which includes the use of very rare feathers. Edwin robs the Tring museum of 299 bird skins,many over 150 years old, to use in his ties and to sell the feathers for huge sums of money.

This is why bookclubs are great. I never would have heard of this book and I never would have picked it up if I did hear about it. I have no knowledge of or interest in fly fishing. Or really in "true crime" type stories. Luckily, someone in the bookclub suggested it (someone who is into fly tying, I think). And this was just so much fun.

The reader for the audiobook does a nice job narrating this story that's a combination of journalism memoir (i.e., the author describing his own work uncovering

I don't read much nonfiction — but now I know how enjoyable it can be! Really like this well-written ride into and through two worlds I knew nothing about. Sideline takeaway: Alfred Russel Wallace — mind blown!

Now, off to find more real stories of real heists! And maybe of Alfred Russel Wallace...
