I'm torn on this one, so rating it a 3.
I found most of the story a little insufferable. I felt deeply trapped in the head of this man who spends more than a decade trying to figure out that the woman he loves is a human being and not a trophy to be won. It didn't help that time moves slowly in the book, with every detail registering Kemal's pain and torturous waiting. He was tortured by lost love, and I was tortured by him.
