This book is both important and a good read. It made me cry more than once. The way the story is embedded in this loving family, the way it touches on so many threads of the problem, the way it helps guide the reader through the fear and anger. It's a book a lot of people need right now. ...more

There has been a lot of hype for this book for awhile and boy is it relevant these days. For all kinds of reasons, this story should not be relevant any time but it is and I hope and pray change is on the way. It will take all of us. And love needs to be stronger than hate.

This book tackles a serious subject - but it tackles it with heart, and love - yet showing the hate, and anger as well. I don't know how the author did it, but she wrote a brilliant complex novel and made it relatable / educational for everyone. Seriously - give this book a try no matter how you think you may not relate. I guarantee you'll fall for the characters and this book. ...more

Sheltered, protected, naive. These are words that come to mind when I think of myself in relation to this book. It was totally outside my concept of the world. Of course, I've heard about things like this happening, but this book made it more real to me and in some ways, changed my way of looking at things.
I would also add this is the first full-length book that I have read on my tablet, and although I don't ever see myself doing the bulk of my reading that way, it is a great vehicle for middle
