What was that??? Amazing! It started off so gently and then got so creepy. And the ending was so satisfying!

Unsettling. What a story. I continually felt sympathy for the little boy protagonist, and much frustration against his parents. A recurring theme in Gaiman's writing is the shortcomings of parents, I believe. Makes perfect sense. Archetypal rifts between children and parents are the stuff myths are made of. Bizarre... Not my cup of tea at all. I liked American Gods because I felt like there was some beautiful passages in it, but this one was just too weird. It's short. If you are a sci-fi-ish person, you might appreciate it a little more than I did. ...more

Charming, frustrating, engaging and lovely. Never knowing which way was up or what was real kept me reading.
