I really expected to like this book more than I did--family issues, mental illness, academic setting--all of these are right up my alley. And despite how deeply personal and deeply felt these characters were, I could never shake the feeling that the author didn't actually know what she wanted to say. Which is fine, I guess, but not ultimately satisfying.
