hmm. well... didn't love this, which was disappointing. the narrator was terrific and did a wonderful job with the characters and stories, and there was - for me - an ethereal quality to the writing. yet, it didn't come together for me. i really struggled to find a way “IN” to the story, because the characters were all so opportunistic and morally challenged - which, you would think, gives lots of room for character development in interesting ways. these kinds of broken characters can be so good

More like 2.5 but rounding down because I can't think of who I would recommend this book to - which is what I think of as being 3 (or more) stars. I was just bored through most of this book - and a day later, I've pretty much forgotten the plot. The characters are forgettable, the plot is weak, and ... just don't bother.
