What Members Thought
These are richly composed characters, but the book still felt a bit like a creative writing exercise. Remember the movie Crash? Me neither, but I remember generally that the premise was that there was a car accident that brought random people's lives into intersection. That's this book.

The lyrical style of McCann's prose is excruciatingly beautiful at times, and yet still simple. I just wish the overall feel of the book didn't leave me so depressed. After finishing the last page, I automatically picked up something very light and fun for my next read. Still, I enjoyed the interwoven stories, and I know they will stay with me for quite a while to come.
