First of all, I'm glad I didn't read these last few chapters earlier at the office, I'm sure I don't want to be known as the person who broke down in tears while supposed to be working. Second of all, I don't remember the last time I cried this hard for, anything really. My heart aches, I'm literally in tears, I couldn't see the screen clearly when I was reading from all the tears streaming down my face and now I can't even write a decent review. But this book captures, War. Suffering. Humanity. ...more

So far this book is excellant, the writer really captures the fear of the people during WW2. The story is being told by Death, who is usually just a casual observer but has taken a liking to the main charachter a teenage girl who is coping with Nazis, and the loss of her brother by stealing books.

I just finished....the end was beautiful in a sad way, but it felt rushed. The rest of the book had a lazy pace, where as the ending was very to the point and brutual. It still held my attention, and I

Few days ago while scanning what to read next, came across reviews for this book. Though I am not a big fan of holocaust fiction and my first from this author but I have to admit it's simply amazing and one of best books I read in some time. The author has truly touched all colors of life and one of very few books that's heartbreaking and yet so heartwarming.

4.5 stars just because the pace was a bit slow to my liking and a thumbs down for occasional intrusion of the narrator.

Nevertheless a must

This book made me feel like it was a true story. Brilliant, an absolutely amazing book. As odd as it sounds, it makes me want to read up on what really happened during that time from different perspectives. The fact that the narrator was original and insightful made this book ten times better than if it were to have been written from a human character standpoint.

Read this book.
Now.
Go.
Stop reading this and read the book.

This book is classified as a young adult book and therefore I should probably have read it a few years ago, however I would argue that this book is open to all and is a fantastic book, beautifully written. Secondly when looking through the reviews someone said this book was not a quick read, I read 300 pages of it in an afternoon so for me it was a very quick read.
