Io sono un'amante dei libri che parlano dei vampiri e di Dracula, sono rimasta però abbastanza interdetta da questo romanzone in cui i vampiri, a mio modo di vedere, sono solo di passaggio in un lungo racconto.
Un libro di vampiri deve essere veloce, mettere paura, lasciarti con il fiato in sospeso e spaventarti a morte mentre ti affascina, questo romanzo non fa niente di tutto questo e sì che in quasi 700 pagine un ben misero tentativo a riguardo lo poteva anche fare...

A modern Dracula story that succeeds in making the vampires very threatening. There's none of the cosiness of Twilight about this. But I didn't like the constant switching between narrators, and I didn't think there was enough plot to justify 700 pages of novel. For me, there's too much description and discussion of every little development in the story. I think it would have been a better book at half the length. But then vampires are not my favourite genre.

I finally finished The Historian by Elizabeth Kostova and it took WAY too long! While the story was interesting and Kostova's descriptions of European cities were often lovely, I found the book unnecessarily wordy and not as gripping as I would have liked. And the ending? No idea what that was all about.... but I didn't like it at all.
