this book is pretty damn awesome! i got so much enjoyment out of becky chambers' novel - i found it smart, insightful, entertaining, and emotional. it really packed a terrific reading punch.

Amazing!

The characters drove this book for me. The plot is interesting, for sure, but I really fell for each and every character in the book. I loved the variety of species and the world that’s created for them.

So this wasn't an over the top 5 stars, OMG I loved it for me like it seems to be for many people. There's nothing wrong with it, I did like it and enjoyed the story and the diverse cast of characters quite a bit. Sometimes I find I have an issue with space books, though not all space books, I can't explain it. I wouldn't even say it's an issue, they just don't always catch with me.

Even so, this journey is eventful and entertaining and I'm sure there is even more character development in book 2.
