This is totally a book that I should have liked more - it is completely in my reading kryptonite wheelhouse. I found it to be just okay. I think the best of this style remains On Canaan's Side by Sebastian Barry for me.

Really interesting use of memory and shifts in perspective to tell this story. The book is essentially the narration of a woman on her deathbed recalling important moments and people from her life, but that description makes the book sound much duller than it actually is. I've had this on my radar for a decade and sitting on my kindle for several years--I don't know what took me so long to want to pick this one up, but I'm glad I finally did.
