What Members Thought
This is my first Jasper Fforde book, but it won't be my last. I found the book clever and amusing and quite enjoyed the literary twists in the background. I'll be excited to read more about Thursday Next's adventures in the rest of the series and I'll probably also give the Nursery Crimes series a shot. If you like books and if you like mysteries that are a little quircky, give Eyre Affair a try. I could even say if you like Jane Eyre or Science Fiction give Eyre Affair a try. Jasper Fforde takes a very unique concept and makes it work. He combines all these elements and more and puts them together to create a story that will blow your socks off.
Time well spent. Unique, intriguing, and captivating - worth reading a second time. I loved the concept of a literary detective and books coming to life. The way Fforde weaves the fantastical with the modern world and great literature is quite clever.
The story of Thrusday Next a SpecOps agent specializing in literary crimes. I found the book amusing in spots but it took awhile to get going and the book jacket gave away too much of the plot.
