It took me awhile to read this for two reasons. One, there is much to digest and think about. And two, there are sections that made me so angry that I had to take a break. Klein looks at climate change and why it has been so difficult for us to address it. Everything from finding the problem so overwhelming that we ignore it, to waiting for a technological solution, to hoping a billionaire will ride to our rescue, to having to find a way around the free market ideology that causes entrenched pol ...more

This was an interesting look at the world and some of its problems. The ideas in this book occasionally made me angry (as they were designed to do). Climate change and the human footprint on the planet is a big deal and I am not going to argue about that. The solutions this author offers are over the top in a way it will be hard to implement.

I should have read this back when it came out in 2014 because it's already quite dated. Climate change has moved fast, plus this book has no knowledge of Trump, COVID-19, Ukraine and other factors that make it certainly seem falsely hopeful at the end.

Interesting and horrifying...but not a fast read...compelling facts and time line of the publicizing of climate change in the U.S. media...and the disappointing narrative of the many missed opportunities to turn it around without major upheaval...
