I wanted to read this when it came out because I enjoyed The Namesake so much.It starts as the story of two brothers who are 15 months apart in age but inseparable in life. They are both dutiful Indian sons, but political ideology starts to separate them in college. Subhash decides to study abroad in America while Udayan becomes a part of the Naxalite movement. Quite disappointing for me. No real depth, nothing ever seems to happen in people's lives and the internal dialogue style just seems so insular (life really isn't like that) and slowwwwwww. Given there are spectacular novels in this genre, for me, it does fall short.
