A sad and remarkable story. Lots of literature about the great War is written by the winning party, this novel is one from the German side.
In the end it does not make a difference, each and every book tells how stupid and sad it is to sacrifice tons of young lives at the war altar. Decided in offices, by higher placed individuals, the war has to be fought by the young people in the trenches who never asked for it.
