What Members Thought
Very informative! A great snapshot of residential city survival in the early 20th century. But just another example how people should never try to live AND be happy in NewYorkCity-type places. Misery from the beginning of history in that place. (And yes I am a biased reader. I prefer living in rural slower paced areas with low costs of living.)
This classic coming of age story was well-written. The characters were fully fleshed out and the prose was fluid. The observations of society were poignant. This one was certainly a tear-jerker (tears of sadness, tears of happiness, sometimes tears just because).
