The bizarre storylines in this book were entertaining and engaging. The variety of characters was refreshing. I struggled with the amount of sexual explicitness, but a 15 year old boy probably spends way more time thinking about it than this character. This was a fantastical situation for which I could suspend my disbelief.

Haunting and moving, this complex novel is really as story of redemption from shattered lives. Its narrative a collection moving between casual observer to outright participant for the reader. Talking cats, crazy wormholes in the world, you name it Murakami does not provide answers but wants to provoke thinking. What I find most interesting about the book is I imagine the story could be told from different character's viewpoints. A fine piece of work ...more
