This wasn't at all what I was expecting. I was envisioning Disney and I got Brothers Grimm. I enjoyed it all the more for that switch in perspective. A shivery, gruesome start to the New Year!

I should have loved this book. It had so many elements that are right up my alley: family drama, WWII, fairy tales, you name it, this book had it for me. Instead, the fact that it had all those elements is part of what made it fall so flat for me. There was too much going on, and it wasn't well-meshed.
