Time and Again is a fabulous book written in 1970. It is said to be a cult classic but, shamefully I only read it recently.
Simon Morely is the main character and has joined a secret government sponsored project, the purpose of which is to test the theory that time still exists. So, Morely takes the offer and he is trained to time travel. This is one of my favorite subjects and so I've read a number of such books...but, Mr. Finney's story is the best I've found.
